Educational system of Panevėžys County fosters traditions of the Lithuanian school and applies the most progressive European educational models.

Professors and students of Panevėžys Institute of Kaunas University of Technology are engaged in scientific research. The institute has a video conference studio providing distance learning support among KTU students and conducting lectures and conferences and a Mechatronical Centre closely co-operating with AB “Ekranas”, the biggest company of the County.

Panevėžys College , a higher school, was established in 2002.

8 vocational schools have over 3000 students. Vocational Training Centre has forms of technological trend.

The majority of pupils are trained at 36 secondary and 62 basic schools, 10 gymnasiums, 3 youth schools and 3 adult training centres provide basic and secondary education.

State-of-the-art, rational and effective educational system applied for the disabled is elaborated at the county. 3 special schools for the mentally disabled have over 300 pupils. Panevėžys has a basic school for the deaf and dull of hearing and a special nursery school educating the blind and partially sighted.

Schoolchildren have perfect possibilities to satisfy their self-expression needs. Over 10 thousand pupils attend 25 musical, painting, artistic centres and sports and nature schools.

The scientists of Baltoscandia Academy established in 1991 investigate literary relations of the Lithuanian, Latvian, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian languages and promotes literary co-operation among the Baltic States .

4 Pedagogical educational centres and 1 Assistance centre for pupils, school and teacher provide assistance for pupils, schools and teachers.
